how can i take care of flowers if i dont want them to get willowed and die too quickly?

Friday, October 30th, 2009

i wanna start arraning my own business as a florist and related stuf but how i can take care of flowres i really like the job and i u can also show me to a site where i can learn how to arrange them thank you

I usually add sugar to the water (just a little). Also, when you cut the bottom of the stem in the air and put the newly cut stem in water, an air bubble usually gets trapped at the base of the stem, reducing the ability of the water to move up the stem. I have found that cutting the stem (just a little trim of the bottom inch or so of the stem) IN the WATER, and keeping it in water (ie don’t lift the flower out of the water once you cut it), will stop the air bubble from forming, allowing water to move up the stem. I am usually able to keep roses, daisies…etc for up to a month! Some flower like tulips and irises don’t last quite as long but using that technique will extend their life span.

I learnt to do this when working for Agriculture Canada. We had to use wheat plants in insect egg laying trials. The wheat heads had to last for at least 48 hours but If we cut the bottoms in the air, then put them in water, they would only last for a maximum of 8 hours.

Cheers!

What kind of flowers should i use for my bouquets, boutineres , corsages and altar arrangements ?

Wednesday, October 28th, 2009

Im not a really big flower person. My bouquet is going to be the only one with real flowers and the rest is silk flowers . My colors are Cornflower blue, Palm Beach coral and white .. the wedding is in July :-] Please i need some good suggestions ?

Coral is pretty easy what with the wide array of rose colors now. I’m a bit stumped for other flowers that fit the "coral" mode.

The blue: Look at hydrangeas, iris, delphiniums, corn flowers. Pure blue is limited to only a few flowers.

Whites….. big selection; from orchids single or in a spray, lilies, calla lilies, roses, carnations, lisianthus……oh my. Two sites you might want to look at is Teleflora.com…….yes, the flower site. But you can select by color and look at some of their ideas. Granted coral and blue combo isn’t show, but you might get some ideas. The second site is a wholesale flower site for the industry, but you can see what’s available to florists around the country. It’s www.sierraflowerfinder.com

It’s a slow site because it has to zip world wide with each search to see what each grower has available. A faster site is www.bloomsxpress.com Once again you can see what’s available in the trade.

Of course you can always go with a white arrangement and select blue and coral ribbon trailers…….

How much do wedding flowers for the ceremony only typically cost?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I want something vine-like with flowers to wind around some columns or a trellis arch; flower petals down the aisle, and a few floral arrangements on the side of the rows (every other, every third row?)

Also, how tacky would it be to have silk flower petals and silk floral vine for the columns or arch? And real flowers for the rows?

I think that your idea is great.
You should do a serious research… May be you should visit a website so you can have an idea.

if you need advice I can give you the web I order flowers.

Best of luck!

I’m looking for a flower warehouse or something like it in San Diego where I can buy tons of cheap flowers.

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

I’m planning my wedding in my girlfriend’s backyard this August. I’m hoping rather than go to a florist we can find a place where we can buy lots of flowers inexpensively and arrange them ourselves. We’re in Solana Beach but could drive anywhere for them. Thanks!!!!

If you’re going to arrange them yourself, go where the professionals go, near the import export gateway to get top quality flowers. It’s not IN in San Diego, but a 1 hr drive will save you at least 60-75% on flowers and supplies.

DEFINITELY go to the Los Angeles Flower District. It’s the floral wholesale center. They’ll have everything you need from wire and ribbons, to vases, and of course FLOWERS. Know what you would pay locally before you go, then try to buy as much as possible from a single vendor so they will give you a better price. .

Even during the wholesale only hours, shops outside the market will also sell flowers, and cash talks.

How do I get animals for sim animals for wii?

Sunday, October 25th, 2009

We just bought Sim Animals and my 5 year old daughter loves it. I am not a video game player AT ALL. But I can’t get anywhere in the game and can’t get any animals. After playing with the squirrel for an entire evening, he retired. We’ve been feeding him, watering flowers, arranging flowers to keep them happy. Everything seemed to be ok…., but we have no animals! Help, I have a feeling that this shouldn’t be a problem because I can’t find any information on anyone having trouble with this.

You likely got the happy bar high enough to go to the next part of the forest. There’s a map icon on the lower right part of the screen. Click on that and you can travel to the next part of the forest, where there are more animals. You continue this process until all the levels are unlocked, and eventually you’ll see about 35 different kinds of animals.
