How to Make Beautiful Flower Arrangements

I am ordering flowers and arranging them myself for my wedding. I need to know that it is okay to have the flowers in the same water. Also, How long will they last? My plan was to have them delivered 2 days before the wedding, arrange them right away, and then hide them in a dark cooler place(Like the basement, I can’t fit them all into the fridge). Will they be okay for the wedding? Any other advise? Thanks!!!

Note: I am ordering them from a bulk store with a good reputation for there flowers, not a florist. So, there won’t be any florist to hold on to them before the wedding.
Note: I was planning on using waterproof floral tape in a grid pattern to keep the flowers seperate. Should I use foam(or marbles) too?

Yes – you can arrange them together. two days ahead is ok. make the arrangement light and airy. Remove most of leaves, add ferns and baby’s breath for a really spectacular touch. It would help if you were to put clear marbles in the bottoms of the vases so you can control the arrangement by placing each individual stem into the arrangments instead of having all flowers clumped together. If you are using vases that are not clear, then use florist sponge to arrange the flowers. Keep the heavier flowers toward the center and then lighten up as you move to the edges. How you arrange will determine how it looks. Again – keep flowers light and airy in the arrangement. Have a wonderful wedding. People are going to be looking at you – not the flowers.

let me tell u something, the best way to start off is with scemes,

i know it has to do with how the flower is arranged but i don’t know what thy represent or how it is used. ie K2-4 and so on. sometimes even with the infinite sign or something.

K = calyx, the sepals; also symbolized Ca
C = corolla, the petals; also symbolized Co
A = androecium, the stamens; also symbolized S
G = gynoecium, the pistil(s)

These are shorthand symbols used to write a floral formula, which tells you about the construction of the flower. For instance, a tulip flower has the floral formula
Ca 3 Co 3 S 6 G 3 (with a circle around the 3 of the G to symbolize three united carpels)

The infinity symbol is used for "many", which is defined as "more than 10" — so poppy stamens are symbolized as
S infinity, for instance.

If you poke around on the web using the search term "floral formula" you’ll find some examples written properly, as I cannot write them here.

my father and stepmother are getting married through the church and we are having a family get together at our ranch home . I have always loved to do creative work and often buy retail flowers and arrange them. i would like to make the flower arrangments for the event but buying the flowers retial at the amount we need is not practicle. so i am trying to get a licence to buy wholesale flowers, but don’t know how and search engines are no help. i do not need a vendors licence because i would only use it for my personal use or for buying and arrging as gifts. can anyone help?

i wish to buy fresh flowers and arrange them into a gift box ( with cover ). what are the materials needed?
do i use floral foam as the base?

Will the flowers be standing upright or lying down?

If you want to arrange them in an upright position, you will need floral foam and you may want to buy some floral wire, especially if you have flowers that tend to droop like gerbera daisies or tulips. The floral foam should be soaked in water and placed in a water proof base.

If you want to lie the flowers down around something, you can buy special test tubes with caps for each flower. These are then filled with water. Your best bet? Go to any flower shop and throw yourself on their mercy. They’ll have everything you need to make your gift box memorable.

The supplies you need aren’t expensive and can even be purchased at craft stores. Just be sure you get the right kind of foam for fresh flowers. Don’t confuse floral foam with the green styrofoam they use for silk or dried flower arrangements!
