What flowers smell strongly or bad? What should I avoid in flower arrangements?

Tuesday, August 17th, 2010

I am making flower arrangements for my wedding. I want to know which common flowers smell strongly so I can avoid them. For example, daisies tend to have a bad (IMO) smell and gardenias smell good but are strong.

Note: I don’t mean exotic flowers like the rotting corpse flower or other things not sold in a flower shop.

Lilies can be a bit cloying if there are multiples in your arrangements. Freesia’s have a gentle smell as do tulips. Roses vary, some are overpowering and others are gentle. I suggest you go to a florist and give them all a sniff. It will also depend on the time of year what flowers are available.

Help with an idea for a flower arrangement?

Wednesday, August 11th, 2010

Well, in our county fair the theme is "A Treasure Chest for the County’s Best" It has to be a flower arrangment with dried artificial or real flowers.

I was thinking that the base would be a treasure map on sandpaper or something anyother ideas or some kind of link will be appreciated.

arrange them IN a treasure chest made of wicker weave.

and use lots of golden flowers, like sunflowers and the occasional red / blue / white dotted spray.

arrange so the chest is open and the flowers are like the gold bounty within.

Have you ever been to flower shop? Do they help you make come up with different flower arrangements?

Can you combine flowers?

You can have whatever you want. If you go in and give them a general idea of what you want they can pick something out for you, or if you know what you want then you can just ask for it.

You are better off leading a life of ignorance than to start realizing the full consequences of the Illuminati’s master paln.

Sunday, July 18th, 2010

i am buying some flowers for my boyfriend and i want it to be very special for him. I have never practised the art of flower arranging before and i want him to appreciate the flowers in a manly way.
can anyone help me?

chances are your bf doesn’t know much about flower arrangements, i’m sure he’ll appreciate them regardless of how you arrange them.
