What flowers smell strongly or bad? What should I avoid in flower arrangements?
Tuesday, August 17th, 2010I am making flower arrangements for my wedding. I want to know which common flowers smell strongly so I can avoid them. For example, daisies tend to have a bad (IMO) smell and gardenias smell good but are strong.
Note: I don’t mean exotic flowers like the rotting corpse flower or other things not sold in a flower shop.
Lilies can be a bit cloying if there are multiples in your arrangements. Freesia’s have a gentle smell as do tulips. Roses vary, some are overpowering and others are gentle. I suggest you go to a florist and give them all a sniff. It will also depend on the time of year what flowers are available.
