how do you arrange flowers in a manly way?

i am buying some flowers for my boyfriend and i want it to be very special for him. I have never practised the art of flower arranging before and i want him to appreciate the flowers in a manly way.
can anyone help me?

chances are your bf doesn’t know much about flower arrangements, i’m sure he’ll appreciate them regardless of how you arrange them.

This is an impossibility. Men do not like receiving flowers unless the flowers are accompanied by a well made sammich.

more important than the actual arrangement of the flowers is going to be the choice of flower you make. try to choose flowers that are not feminine looking. don’t put any baby’s breathe in there and avoid frilly looking blooms like peonies or hydrangeas.

sunflowers, blue delphiniums, chocolate cosmos, iris, tiger lilies, gerber daisies, mums, and that type of flower are best suited for guys. avoid roses because of their emotional and mental associations as the flower of love from a man to a woman.

most guys don’t appreciate a gift of flowers so i hope you know him pretty well and are sure he will like this.

Look for a container that is masculine, maybe with something associated with a hobby he enjoys. Put several types of greenery in the arrangement and a few flowers such as sunflowers or tiger lilies. Then you could add some non floral items glued to a stem that go with the container such as golf tees if he is a golfer or fishing lures for a fisherman. Hope this helps.

I think it’s a nice thought, but most guys don’t appreciate flowers the same way women do.

That said, I think it’s a lovely gesture. Choose masculine colors (avoid pink) such as a strong red or dark purple. Pick flowers that are very strong, not dainty in appearance. In the arrangement, have nice, clean lines without too much muss or fuss. Think modern and contemporary. Use greenery in an interesting way.

Once my fiance admitted that he wished someone would buy him flowers. And he spent an awful lot of time sniffing our test flowers for the wedding – so I wouldn’t say that all men don’t appreciate flowers.

I dunno if you can arrange them in a manly way though, unless you staple them together or something haha.

I’d say it is more about the types of flowers (as others have said) and the colors than the arrangement. Use blues, browns, darker colors. No pinks and purples, I’d stay clear of pastel or lighter blues and yellows too. Don’t use baby’s breath, use more greenery, like those ferny things.
