Help with flowers… centerpieces vs decorations?

I am doing a budget wedding. In my package, centerpieces are included so we picked out beautiful blue glass vases (blue is our color) with fresh spider mums and bells of ireland.
Because other flowers are NOT included, we are going to be using silk flowers for bouquets and corsages.
Here is my question- in my home I have a variety of beautiful vases in the same blue glass, just as decorations in my living room. Do you think it would look pretty to have them around as other decorations? As in, on the present table and place-card table, etc?
I love this idea, the problem is that the vases from home wouldn’t have the same flower arrangements as the centerpieces, I would have to either do silk flowers or stop at a grocery store and pick up flowers the day of, and there is no way to mimic spider mums either way.

Also, if I go with this idea, how do I make sure guests don’t take them home? I’ve heard that usually guests try to take the centerpieces, which is fine. I just don’t want to lose my personal decorations.
… like I said above, the centerpieces are already ordered. Those are set in stone.

I think the cons outweigh the pros.

You have to spend more money for the flowers, and if you are on a budget this is money that could be better spent elsewhere. Plus you have to worry about buying the flowers on that day and making sure the vases go home with you.

If you decide to do this, just put two or three vases on the placecard table and one in each bathroom. Not on the gifts table or elsewhere.

I would advise not to use personal decoration not because they can be lost but because of unmatchable flower types. Centerpieces will look good. As far corner are concerned, try some other decoration. Hanging single/cluster simple crystals from roof, etc.

yeah… i think you better not put your personal things for your wedding days… because it is true that most of the time the guest will take them as a souvenir…

and as for your center piece i bet there is someone you know that can help you to pick and decorate flower as your center piece… or just simple put a rose and some baby’s breath on it… it will look simple and elegant…

Instead of using vases, why not lay flowers/petals on tables. I have seen this and it is a pretty effect, if not over-done.

p.s.flowers can be fresh or silk and do not have to match the type of flowers in the vase. A complimentary color is more important, maybe something muted.

T his would look beautiful even with other flowers; however, my main concern is that vases might get broken especially on gift table as gifts could shift as other gifts are added. The only thing that I can think of is a mantle if there is one and make a grouping of of your vases on it. If you decide to do this other color flowers would be great as you need some variety and a dash of color.

I would suggest using small votives with candles in them. They are super cheap and you can get them from almost anywhere. That way you can put them on the card table, cake table, and anywhere else.
